Welcome to Seoul

I like Seoul.

I live in a shared apartment with 3 other guys. I share my room with a japanese guy and in the other room there are another german and a norwegian guy. The apartment complex is quite luxurious (we have pool, fitness studio, sauna, squash…)

The school is a bit far as we drive 30-45 minutes with the bus. Yonsei University is one of the oldest private universities in South Korea. It’s also regarded as one of the best. They were the first to establish a Korean Program for foreign students. The lessons are quite hard for someone like me without any prior knowledge, but it’s still fun. Studying at the Yonsei Korean Language Institute (KLI) is an interesting experience for someone who studied IT before. The male to female ratio is almost the opposite. There are appr. 120 students in this summer course and every class has around 10 students. My class is with 4 guys and 7 girls probably the one with most guys. The other classes have only one or two males;-) Most students are from Japan, so here it’s hard to imagine that koreans and japanese don’t like each other.

Since my home is a bit outside of Seoul I haven’t seen that much yet. I’ve been to the biggest palace here (plus it’s surroundings) and I did a bus tour of Seoul. Not yet been to Gangdam, but will surely in the near future.
