再见 Beijing – 你好 Shanghai

This saturday I left Beijing towards the next station of my journey – Shanghai.

再见(Goodbye) Beijing
On friday I said goodbye to the school. Despite my teacher’s best effort, my chinese did not improved a lot. The last few weeks were pretty quiet at school. There were almost no other foreign students there. Many had canceled because of the bird flu and the air quality. Leaving Beijing is like quitting smoking someone once told me. Despite the (often) bad air and the lack of language improvement I had a great time in Beijing. Saw a lot of cool/weird/beautiful places/things and met some really interesting people;-) I was suprised myself how much I enjoyed myself here and how I fell in love with this crazy city.

你好(Hello) Shanghai
On saturday morning I took the train to Shanghai (5h, 1000km, up to 305km/h). Upon arrival I was greeted with the rainy Shanghai weather of the season (right now is rainy season here as well).
I live now in a small single room apartment with very slow internet, but it’s conveniently located in a major shopping district and only 2km away from the school. Probably gonna get moved to a shared apartment in a couple of weeks.
On monday I had the first day of school. The school is located right next to the Ritz-Carlton in a much nicer building than the Beijing school (here the AC is actually working). I’m now in group class again with 2 other students. Lesson seem to be more freestyle (not so much glued to the textbook), what I kinda like. But it’s to early to tell whether I gonna start learning some chinese now.
