Everyone who saw James Bond Skyfall, will probably remember this island.

The island is located 3km southwest of Nagasaki and was originally used for coal harvest. After 1974 the island was abandoned. In recent years it was used as shooting location for music videos and movies (e.g. Battle Royal). Best know is the island as the source of inspiration for the villain headquarter in James Bond – Skyfall. The real name of the island is Hashima (端島) but due to it’s appearance it’s also known as Gunkanjima (軍艦島, engl: battle ship island).

Since we had some time before and after the island tour we also visited to Peace Park and Glover Garden in Nagasaki.
