This week my appendix got removed. (entry is kinda gross!)

My appendix was inflamed and had to be removed since it caused infections again and again and might one day even perforate. So I had to go to the hospital again. But this time it was a scheduled surgery and not a midnight emergency like last time. On thursday afternoon I went in (Eiju Hospital). On friday noon I had the operation and on sunday I could leave the hospital without my appendix but with a small scar (ca. 4cm). I had chosen not to see the appendix after they removed it, but apparently it’s like a 10cm long and 8mm thick gross looking worm. It’s a live image I can live without.
During the operation I was paralysed from the chest down but fully awake, which was quite weird. I could not see anything, since there was a blind but I could smell my burnt flesh when they cut me open with a hot knife. I didn’t feel any pain but felt that they stired in my stomach and shook my stomach (apparently to clean it from the infection that had spread from the appendicitis). Plus I felt like I wanted to vomit but couldn’t since they had put me on a diet 12h before the operation. The worst part were the hours after the operation, when I couldn’t move but started to feel the pain in my stomach and getting back cramps from lying the same position for 12h. But on saturday noon I could move again, still with pain but this is suppose to fade within the next days.
All in all a very unpleasant experience but I’m happy that useless thing is gone and can no longer cause infections/problems.
