I’ve been in Shanghai now for two weeks and so far I like it here.
Compared to Beijing the air quality is superb, the streets are much cleaner and the traffic is not as chaotic (people actually stop at a red traffic light). Though I miss Beijing’s craziness a little bit.
During these two weeks I’ve covered quite a distance in my Flip Flops wandering around the city. It has many intersting spots and some really nice parks to get away from the city hustle for a while. Best place so far was the Bund (walkway on the west side of the Huangpu river). Here you can see old Shanghai with it’s colonial buildings on the west side and new Shanghai (Pudong) with the TV-Tower and skyscrapers on the east side. Only disappointment was the view from the Shanghai World Financial Center (bottle opener building) as the windows were dirty. Will probably try one of the other skyscrapers for a better view.
