First week of school is now over so it’s time to blog a bit about it. Turns out Chinese is a pretty difficult language to learn. What a suprise 😉
I’m studying at iMandarin, which is a small private language school. The school is located 30 min. by foot from my apartment. School starts at 9AM and ends at 4PM with 1,5h lunch break inbetween. We are 3 students (other two are from Denmark & Philippines). We have one morning teacher and one afternoon teacher. Since there are only 3 of us the lessons are pretty intense. You’re constantly on the spot – no way to hide or to kick back and recover from sleep deprivation. Right now I’m struggeling a lot with the tones and the difference between “zh”, “ch”, “sh”, “c”, “s” and so on. But it’s only the first week and the teacher are pretty good in detecting your weaknesses and giving you extra help.
Besides struggeling with chinese, I’m also a bit sick as my (a bit sensetive) stomach adjusts to this new country. But talking to the other students its not uncommon, getting sick in the first couple of weeks from food poisoning, smog, party hangover…
